Prof. Dr. Shirin Akter Begum Passed MBBS in 1988 from Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She passed Bangladesh Civil Service exam on December 1990. She Started Government Job on January 1991. In 1993 she passed Member of College of Physician and Surgeons (MCPS) from Bangladesh College of Physician and Surgeons. She completed her DGO on 1997 from Chittagong Medical College, Chittagong University, Bangladesh. In 2004 she obtained her MS (Obs & Gyne) degree from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She obtained a Fellowship on Surgical Oncology on 2009 from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India.

She is Master Trainer in VIA training programme (TOT and colposcopy training programme (TOT). She trained as Master Trainer in Cervical Cancer Prevention, Early Detection & Management at Nargis Dutt Memorial Cancer Hospital, Barshi, India on March 2017. She took training at IARC Summer School, Lyon, France on Implementing Cancer Prevention and Early Detection on June 2017.

She was project director of six (6) Government projects at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University from 2002-2016 funded by Ministry of Science information communication Technology of Bangladesh (MOSICT). She is Course Director, Post graduates Students of surgery faculty, BSMMU.

Prof. Dr. Shirin Akter Begum is a Member of editorial board Bangladesh Medical research council (BMRC). She is Secretary General of Bangladesh society for colposcopy & cervical Pathology (BDSCCP) and Executive Member of GOSB (Gyne oncology society of Bangladesh). She is Life Member of OGSB (Obstetrics and Gynecological society of Bangladesh, AGOI (Association of Gyne oncology society of India), AOGIN (Asia Oceania research Organization on Genital Infections and Neoplasia, India).

She contributed a Chapter of a text book for the post graduate students of gynecologic oncology, published by the Springer. Editors: Sumita Mehta and Anshuja Singla. She has more than 55 publications in different index journals and others. She has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students for the past 27 years and supervisor of thesis & dissertation of postgraduate students for last 15 years. She is President of Lions Club of Dhaka Daffodil, District 315-B1, Bangladesh. Reviewer of index journal of Bangladesh Medical research council (BMRC), Mymensing medical Journal, Bangladesh medical journal and International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Former Member of IRB (Institutional review board), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka, Bangladesh
